tiem false start

so, soon after the holidays each member of Team False Start is going to have a portrait of themselves against this background.

the idea of the letter cutouts is that each one of us will have a different letter in our portrait, and when put together the pictures spell out "T.E.A.M."

and introducing the fifth member of TFS:

SSTM: backside

Team False Start

recently i've been working with some amazing ladies to produce monthly events at Meltdown Comics hosted by Flase Start Distro

ironically, as the only member of the producer committee who is ignorant to zine culture, i have been given the task of creating a faux zine, acting as our monthly brochure.

this is a keepsake for guests with a short description of the current event and another short description of the following month's event. blah blah blah, its nearing completion.

just a few more adjustments.
show up in person to see the final outcome!

Riot Grrrls: Call for Submissions - low brow/outsider art

At MeltDown Comics: on December 5th @ 7 PM, False Start will host a screening of “Don’t Need You”, a short documentary about the origins of Riot Grrrl, a feminist punk rock movement from the early 1990’s. Through making music, playing shows and writing zines, Riot Grrrls created a movement centered on creativity, self-expression and making marginalized voices heard. In addition to the screening there will be an art show of work that embodies the do-it-yourself, low art, punk rock spirit of Riot Grrrl.

Call for submissions: Riot Grrrls didn’t wait to be backed by a major label to make their music, Zinesters don’t wait for a publisher to give them permission to publish, and we want art from artist’s who believe in doing-it-yourself, not waiting for someone to do it for you. We’re interested in any medium that can be hung on a wall and are open to any subject matter and content. We want low-brow art, outsider art, art from artists who think creation and self-expression are important above all else.
